Green Goodness


When I was younger I always struggled eating vegetables. I never realized how important it was to eat them daily or how many serves you are actually supposed to be having in a day.


Green smoothies have been a morning ritual for me for a while now. I try and pack at least two types of vegetables along with fruit each smoothie. This is a good way to knock off a couple of serves in the morning. I do like to mix up my combos often, however this certain mix has been my favourite.


Since having a smoothie a day, I have noticed a lot of changes with my skin and my energy levels. My skin is more radiant and the dark circles under my eyes aren’t as prominent. I feel more awake and energized for my morning at work.


Turmeric and cinnamon are two spices I add into my smoothies when I’m feeling a bit under the weather. Turmeric contains powerful antioxidants that support the maintenance of good health and wellbeing. It has been used as a remedy for centuries. Cinnamon not only makes my smoothie taste delicious, it too has great health benefits. It has antifungal, antibacterial and even antiviral properties. For years, cinnamon has been used as a treatment for the common cold.


I usually have a piece of toast with avocado or oats as well as my smoothie. If you just want the smoothie and are eating breaky on the go, throw in some muesli to the mix and that should keep you going until morning tea!


A smoothie a day will keep the doctor away!



- 1 half – 1 full banana (frozen)

- 3 cubes of mixed frozen berries (I mix fresh berries together, cube them and then put them into the freezer)

- Half an orange

- Cucumber

- A giant handful of any kind of greens – Spinach, Kale, Silver beat, etc.

- 1 teaspoon of turmeric

- 1 teaspoon of cinnamon

- 1 teaspoon of honey

- 1 teaspoon of chia seeds


Put all ingredients into a blender or Nutri Bullet with some water and mix until you reach your desired consistency.


Tip: Cut up all ingredients on a Sunday night and bag them so you have them ready to go for the week.
